Print opportunity

My prints will be appearing at the Derby Open 2022. The Derby Print Open is an exhibition showcasing contemporary printmaking from artists based in the United Kingdom. The Derby Print Open was created in 2018, by Green Door Printmaking Studio, with a simple ideology; to promote printmaking and printmakers around the UK. The show will be on display from 1st June – 30th June. The prints below are amongst the ones I have on show. https://www.derbyprintopen.org/

Printmaking adventures

My goal with printmaking is to keep it experimental and as receptive to the incidental as my painting. To this end I have been experimenting with collagraph prints. This technique allows me a greater sense of freedom when preparing the plate, which is fun. This translates into a freer looking print. My longer term plan is too also draw into the plate at the printing stage and to combine intaglio with relief printing processes. For now please enjoy my latest explorations.

Skills developement

One of the positives to lockdown is that I have more free time. I’m allowing myself the space to make mistakes and try out new ways of working. I’m also doing more printmaking. I have been practising collagraph, mezzotint & dry point etching. Unfortunately, it’s more difficult to acid etch from home so I’m limited to printing off existing plates.
